Seminole State’s Moreno selected as DI Player of the Year
Charlotte, NC – Seminole State (OK) sophomore Shea Moreno has been named the 2021 NJCAA Division I Softball Player of the Year, presented by the Marines.
Moreno, a First-Team All-America selection, finished the 2021 season as the national leader in batting average (.673), RBI (102), total bases (192), on-base percentage (.709), and slugging percentage (1.280). The third baseman recorded a hit in 42 of 46 games played, including a 35 multi-hit games and a 40-game hitting streak from March 9-May 16.
"We are very proud of the season Shea had this year," said head coach Amber Flores. "She was consistent all year in her performance and proved she was the top player in the country. We are proud of her performance on the field and are incredibly proud of her accomplishments. Congratulations to Shea and our programs, what an honor. We look forward to her success in the future at Mississippi State."
In addition to being named Player of the Year, Moreno was named the Region II MVP and earned a spot on the All-Region Team. The sophomore helped lead Seminole State to a Conference Championship title, a Region II title, and a fifth-place finish at the 2021 NJCAA Division I Softball Championship.
