George E. Killian Award of Excellence
Since 2006, The George E. Killian Award of Excellence has been awarded annually to individuals that have demonstrated the ideals of voluntarism, achievement, service, leadership and excellence as exemplified by its namesake. Only active Region Directors, Assistant Region Directors, Coaches Association Presidents, Presidential Representatives and Officers are eligible for consideration with a minimum of two years of national service to the NJCAA. Dr. Dan Kinney - Iowa Central Community College | NJCAA Presidential Advisory Council Chair, NJCAA Board of Regents
Since 2009, Dr. Dan Kinney has led Iowa Central Community College as president and is responsible for all facets of college life for faculty, staff, and students. Well-known at the local and national level, Kinney was recently appointed chair of the NJCAA Presidential Advisory Council representing the Central District, comprised of Regions 4, 11, 16 and 24.
"Dr. Dan Kinney is one of those presidents who combines a deep understanding of the value of intercollegiate athletics with a commitment to the integrity of our academic programs," stated Dr. Margaret McMenamin. "He is the type of leader whose counsel other presidents seek, and I am proud to call him my friend and colleague. The NJCAA is fortunate to have him as a part of our leadership team."
An advocate for the Tritons and his students, Kinney serves as the Chairman of Iowa Association of Community College Presidents, Board member of St. Edmonds Catholic Schools, Board member of the Iowa BioTech Association, and Rural Iowa Development Council member. Kinney actively seeks to intertwine athletic and academic involvement seamlessly.
Bobby Hudson – Volunteer State (TN) | Region VII Men's Director, NJCAA Board of Regents
Bobby Hudson's desire to make an impact in the lives of student-athletes is felt throughout the NJCAA. For the past 14 years, Hudson's strides as an athletic director and Physical Education Department Chair have allowed him to better serve NJCAA Region VII in more ways than imaginable.
"Bobby's dedication to student-athletes, Volunteer State, the TCCAA, and the NJCAA are unmatched," stated Dr. Foster Chason, TCCAA Commissioner. "He has the ability to not only see the big picture, but also has the fortitude to speak and stand for what he believes is best for each entity."
With previous held positions as NJCAA Region VII Men's Assistant Director and now Men's Region Director, Hudson proves himself to be a remarkable resource. With undeniable Tennessee roots, Hudson's impulse to serve others has reflected in his involvement within the Tennessee Board of Regents, the NJCAA Board of Regents and the TCCAA.
