The national title caps off a memorable season for Indian Hills, which included the induction of its head coach Mike Hagan into the NJCAA Division I Men’s Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
A playoff was needed to settle who would earn top medalist honors for 2014 as Wallace State’s Cooper Brown (right) and David Wicks of Midland (Texas) finished in a tie at 5-over 293 after 72 holes of play. Brown broke the tie on the first playoff hole. Brown’s performance marks the second consecutive year a golfer from Wallace State has won the individual championship. Aksel Olsen won the 2013 title and finished in a tie for 12th this year.
Wallace State finished as the national-runner up for the third time in program history (1993, 1996). Iowa Western finished third overall with a 1,213 (+61) team score. Darton State (Ga.) claimed fourth place at 66-over (1,218) and Odessa (Texas) rounded out the top five at 75-over (1,227).
