Jack Wright named NJCAA Football Coach of the Year
Wright led the Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs to the 2019 national title
Charlotte, NC – After guiding Mississippi Gulf Coast to the 2019 NJCAA eTeamSponsor Football Championship, Jack Wright has been named the 2019 NJCAA Football
Coach of the Year, as selected by the NJCAA Football Committee.
Wright's championship with the Bulldogs put the head coach in exclusive company, becoming just the second coach to win an NJCAA championship with two different programs, joining Dick Foster who led Fort Scott (1970) and Coffeyville (1983).
In just his second season at the helm of the Bulldogs, Wright led the Bulldogs to an undefeated 12-0 record, extending the nation's longest active win streak to 16 games. Mississippi Gulf Coast boasted one of the top offensive attacks across the nation after ranking second in total offense with 5,287 yards, seventh in yards per game, and eighth in scoring. To compliment the offensive side of the ball, the Bulldog defense led the nation in total defense with 191.9 yards allowed per game, the only program in the nation to allow under 200 yards per contest.
The Bulldogs were ranked No. 1 in the final six polls of the regular season as well as the final poll of the 2019 campaign.
Wright joins former Mississippi Gulf Coast head coach Steve Campbell to win NJCAA Football Coach of the Year honors. Campbell was awarded the recognition after the Bulldogs' previous national championship in 2007.

Wright on being name NJCAA Football Coach of the Year
"It's a great award for our program. Like receiving any individual award in a team sport, it's a reflection of the team's success. We use it as a way to give credit to our whole football program, and our coaches have done so much to recruit, teach and motivate our players, who bought in and played so well all year."
