Western States Football League Sweeps NJCAA Football Player of the Week Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS , Colo. (Sept. 20, 2006) - Cade Cooper of Snow College (Utah) and Arizona Western's Max Fairclough and Lance Harrison-Brown have been selected as the NJCAA Football Players of the Week for games through Sept. 18.
Cooper earned Offensive Player of the Week honors, Fairclough garnered Defensive Player of the Week while Harrison-Brown was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cade Cooper, Snow College ( Utah )
Sophomore, Quarterback, Lehi , Utah / TimpView High School
Cooper was responsible for five touchdowns in Snow College 's 61-0 blowout of Pima County Community College ( Ariz. ). Cooper completed 11 of 15 passes for 227 yards and three touchdowns, including a 77-yard completion for six. He also rushed three times for 45 yards and two more touchdowns.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Max Fairclough, Arizona Western College
Sophomore, Linebacker, Laie , HI / Kahuki High School
In a game that was decided by just one score, Fairclough led Arizona Western 7-0 victory over Air Force (JV) with his stellar defensive play. He tallied 13 solo tackles, three assisted tackles, and one and one-half sacks. Fairclough's full sack came on a third and goal play which he stuffed the Air Force quarterback five yards behind the line of scrimmage. Air Force then settled for a field goal, which was then blocked. He also forced a fumble, which led to the Arizona Western's game winning touchdown drive.
SPECIAL TEAM PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lance Harrison-Brown, Arizona Western College
Freshman, Linebacker, Oakland , Calif. / St. Elizabeth High School
Harrison-Brown helped Arizona Western hold-on to a 7-0 win over Air Force (JV) by blocking two field goal attempts by the Falcons. He returned one of the blocked field goals past midfield and finished the day with 42-yards in returns.
