NJCAA Celebrates National Girls & Women in Sports Day 2026
Charlotte, NC – On Wednesday, February 4, the NJCAA will celebrate the 39th annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD). NGWSD honors the achievements of women athletes, coaches, and leaders, and the power of sports to unlock their limitless potential. As the first association to establish a women's division in collegiate athletics, the NJCAA and its member colleges will celebrate the 51st year of the NJCAA women's division.
Student-athletes, member colleges, and fans are encouraged to support the annual movement on social media. To support, highlight any past or present success stories of female student-athletes throughout the association. Member institutions are also encouraged to utilize the NGWSD2026 Toolkit as they share stories, initiatives, and events that promote inspiring females and student-athletes.
About National Girls & Women in Sports Day
National Girls & Women in Sports Day is a vibrant movement powered by the Women's Sport Foundation (WSF) celebrated annually. This day honors the athletes, coaches, administrators, and advocates who have broken barriers and paved the way for greater equity and opportunity in athletics.
NGWSD serves as a call to action in encouraging communities, schools, and organizations to continue supporting access, inclusion, and equal opportunity in sports. By celebrating progress and recognizing the work still ahead, NGWSD inspires the next generation to play, compete, and lead—on and off the field.
