Pair of NJCAA Alumni Competing in 2026 Major League Volleyball Season
Charlotte, NC – Two former NJCAA student-athletes are set to open their next professional volleyball season this weekend. Major League Volleyball's (MLV; formerly known as Pro Volleyball Federation) 2026 season runs from January to May with eight teams across the United States. Camila Gómez and Isabel Martin are both returners to MLV and each bring NJCAA national championship experience to the court.
Gómez, who played at Miami Dade College (FL) in 2016 and 2017, won back-to-back NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championships with the Sharks. The libero was named to the All-Tournament Team in 2017 after recording 51 digs and nine assists in three games. Gómez has a decorated international career competing for Colombia, collecting 15 medals and multiple Best Libero accolades. Ahead of this season, Gómez rejoined Grand Rapids Rise, for which she competed in the inaugural 2024 Pro Volleyball Federation season, after spending the 2025 season with the Omaha Supernovas.
Martin competed at Hillsborough Community College (FL) from 2019-21. She received All-Region VIII and All-Suncoast Conference honors both seasons and as a freshman was presented the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Ilida Medero Award, honoring the Division I Player of the Year. Martin helped lead the Hawks to a sixth-place overall finish at the 2019 NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championship. 2026 is Martin's second year competing in MLV. She joined the Dallas Pulse in the offseason after playing for Indy Ignite in 2025.
