NJCAA Women's Tennis coaches association announces two hall of fame inductees
Charlotte, NC: The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has announced two honorees to be inducted into the NJCAA Women's Tennis Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The Honorees include Mark Easley from Jones College (MS) and Lynn Cabot-Puro of Fashion Institute of Technology (NY).
Mark Easley | Coach | Jones (MS)
Coach Easley has been a key staple at Jones College and has served in a dozen roles there. He spent 17 years as the head men's and women's tennis coach. During that span, Easley was named ITA Region 3 Coach of the Year in 2015, twice named Region 23 Coach of the Year, and was named MACJC Coach of the Year five times.
As head coach at Jones, Easley's teams reached the national tournament 17 times. Jones Tennis has been a staple within Region 23 as a strong tennis program. With Easley at the helm, they captured two NJCAA Region 23 Championships and finished as the Region 23 Runner-Up four times. They also won four MACJC Championships and earned six runner-up finishes. Forty-five players have been named All-MACJC Players under Coach Easley.
Easley is currently an assistant coach for Jones after stepping away as the head coach in May of 2016. His passion for the Jones Bobcat program has always been felt and has been what elevates those around him.
Lynn Cabot-Puro | Coach | Fashion Institute of Technology (NY)
Lynn Cabot-Puro has been a staple for the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) tennis since becoming the head coach. Cabot-Puro has been on staff at FIT since 1996 and has been involved with FIT tennis and the tennis community as they have served as tournament director for numerous tournaments. They currently serve as the men's and women's tennis coach at FIT.
Coach Lynn has led FIT to five NJCAA DIII National Championship Tournament Runner-up appearances and one third-place finish in nine total appearances. They have also been named the RXV Coach of the Year in six of the last nine years. Since 2011, Coach Lynn has held a record of 35-12.
Prior to FIT, Lynn was the head varsity tennis coach at local Fair Lawn High School (NJ) and Tournament Director at Bergen County Girls High School Tennis (NJ). They were also the assistant men's and women's tennis coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1986-1987.
