Owens' Cierra Harris named Division III Player of the Year
Charlotte, NC - Owens (OH) sophomore guard Cierra Harris has been named the 2021-22 NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Player of the Year.
Harris averaged a double-double on the season with 12.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. She accumulated 12 double-doubles on the season including a 29-point, 23-rebound performance in a win over Lakeland (OH) during the regular season. The sophomore was also fifth in the nation in total rebounds (319) and sixth in blocks (55).
During the national tournament, Harris' impacted the game in different ways across the stat sheet. In the quarterfinal game against Prince George's (MD), Harris grabbed 17-rebounds, nine points, and 4 assists. In the semifinal thriller, Harris scored a team-high 17 points, six rebounds, and four assists. In the national championship game, Harris provided a spark off the bench scoring 10 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
These efforts during the national tournament earned Harris Tournament Most Valuable Player and All-Tournament team honors.
