Two honored in NJCAA Bowling Hall of Fame
Charlotte, NC – The NJCAA has announced two honorees to be inducted into the NJCAA Bowling Coaches Association Hall of Fame. A former student-athlete and a contributor have been selected to join the honorable 2023 class. Read below for more on Jessica Zigrossi and Gary Brown.
Jessica Zigrossi | Student-Athlete | Erie (NY)
Jessica Zigrossi attended Erie Community College from 2008-2009. Zigrossi led the Kats to claim consecutive NJCAA Women's Bowling Championships, marking the 26th and 27th national titles for Erie respectively. As a freshman, Zigrosse claimed the Doubles Champion title with her partner Kerri Meden. The pair combined for 1,127 points. During her sophomore campaign, Zigrossi earned a second individual national title as the All Events Champion with 2,229 points.
Other accolades Zigrossi garnered included NJCAA Tournament MVP, two-time NJCAA Women's Bowling All-America, and a second-place finish in the singles event. Zigrossi also earned the NJCAA Region 3 Doubles Champion title.
Still heavily involved in the sport of bowling, Zigrossi is currently in her fifth year as a coach at Williamsville South High School in Williamsville, NY.
Gary Brown | Contributor | USBC
Gary Brown is the Managing Director of International Bowling Campus (IBC) Youth Development which includes supervising all United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) youth programs. Brown has been a part of the IBC staff since 1999 and has worked in roles including event management, rules counselor, and director of high school and collegiate. Brown is also a major supporter of the NJCAA Men's and Women's Bowling Championships and makes sure that USBC Collegiate is represented at every NJCAA national tournament. Brown oversees the rules at the NJCAA Men's and Women's Bowling Championships and services regular-season tournaments as well.
A long-standing supporter of the sport of bowling at the two-year level, Brown has encouraged numerous NJCAA member colleges to start men's and women's bowling programs. The NJCAA Men's and Women's Bowling Championships have more than doubled in size in part with Brown's support.
