NJCAA Alumni Alondes Williams & John Ukomadu to Participate in NBA G League All-Star Events
Charlotte, NC – Two NJCAA men's basketball alumni were selected to participate in the NBA G League festivities during NBA All-Star Weekend. Triton College (IL) alum Alondes Williams will compete in the NBA G League Next Up Game, representing the Capital City Go-Go. Former Vincennes University (IN) and Macomb Community College (MI) student-athlete, John Ukomadu, returns to the NBA G League Slam Dunk contest for the second year in a row, from the Motor City Cruise.
Alondes Williams | Guard | Triton (IL)
Williams left Triton after two illustrious seasons from 2017-19. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native totaled 1,059 career points for the Trojans and helped win the 2018 NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship. In his freshman campaign, Williams averaged 13.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists in 36 games while shooting 57.7% from the field and 37.6% from 3-point range. Triton won the NJCAA Region IV title and earned the No. 1 seed in the national tournament. Williams was named to the All-Tournament Team, capping off his week with 22 points, seven rebounds, and three steals in the championship game.
As a sophomore, Williams led the Trojans to a Region IV title in the program's first season at the NJCAA Division I level. The guard averaged 17.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists while shooting 50.4% from the floor and 40.4% from beyond the arc. Williams recorded a triple-double in his final home game as a Trojan. He was named the North Central Community College Conference (N4C) Player of the Year and was a First Team All-Region IV selection. Williams was also honored as the 2018-19 Triton College Co-Male Athlete of the Year.
With the experience gained at the junior college level, Williams transferred to the University of Oklahoma where he played two seasons. Ahead of the 2021-22 season, Williams transferred to Wake Forest University as a graduate student where he made a lasting impact on the Demon Deacons' program. Williams became the first Demon Deacon to be named ACC Player of the Year since 2002-03. Other accolades included All-ACC First Team, US Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) All-American Honorable Mention, USBWA District III Player of the Year, and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District. Williams wrote his name in the Wake Forest record book in multiple categories.
Williams has floated between multiple professional teams in the United States since 2022. Playing with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Miami Heat's NBA G League affiliate, Williams was honored as the 2024 NBA G League Most Improved Player. He was named to the All-NBA G League First Team and selected to participate in the NBA G League Next Up Game. Currently playing with the Capital City Go-Go, Williams earned his second NBA G League Next Up Game nod for the 2025-26 season.
John Ukomadu | Forward | Vincennes (IN) & Macomb (MI)
Ukomadu spent three seasons playing in the NJCAA due to COVID-19, competing at Vincennes in 2019-20 and 2020-21 before transferring to Macomb for the 2021-22 season. While at Vincennes, Ukomadu helped the Trailblazers reach the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship both seasons.
The 2021-22 season was historic for Macomb. Ukomadu helped the Monarchs win the program's first Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Championship and Macomb's second outright MCCAA Eastern Conference title. The forward took home multiple individual accolades, including NJCAA All-America Second Team, All-Region 12, All-MCCAA, All-MCCAA Eastern Conference First Team, and All-MCCAA Eastern Conference Defensive Team honors. He was also named the MCCAA Eastern Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Ukomadu averaged 14.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while shooting 54.9% from the field in 2021-22.
After his time in the NJCAA, Ukomadu transferred to Eastern Kentucky University where he played in 67 games and shot 50.7% across two seasons. As a senior, Ukomadu ranked ninth in the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) in offensive rebounds (2.0/game). Ukomadu was also a jumps athlete on the EKU Track & Field team. He won the high jump title at the 2024 ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a season-best distance of 2.00m.
The Southfield, Michigan, native competed in the 2024 College Slam Dunk Championship scoring a perfect 10 on five of the six judges' cards in the finals when he jumped over three people to dunk – 6-foot-9 Langston Wilson of Milwaukee, 6-foot-8 ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas and 6-foot-2 Boo Buie of Northwestern – lined up front-to-front-to-front.
Ukomadu is making his second consecutive appearance in the NBA G League Slam Dunk contest. He is in his second season competing in the NBA G League, both years with the Motor City Cruise. Ukomadu became the first player to represent the Motor City Cruise in the slam dunk contest last season. The forward holds the franchise record for career blocks with 81.
NBA G League All-Star Weekend Information
The NBA G League Next Up Game will feature 28 players split into four teams of seven. Ten players were selected through fan voting, with the remaining 18 chosen by the NBA G League based on on-court performance. The event will take place Sunday, Feb. 15, beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET at NBA Crossover at the Los Angeles Convention Center as part of NBA All-Star Weekend.
Four competitors will complete two dunks in the first round of the NBA G League AT&T Slam Dunk event, with judges awarding six to 10 points per dunk. Players will have 60 seconds to complete each attempt. The two contestants with the highest composite scores advance to the final round, where the same scoring and time limits apply. The competitor with the highest combined score in the final round will be crowned the 2026 AT&T NBA G League Slam Dunk Champion. The event will take place Saturday, Feb. 14, at 3:30 p.m. ET at NBA Crossover at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
All NBA G League events during NBA All-Star 2026 will air on the NBA Channel and will be available for free on Roku, Samsung, Tubi, Pluto, Fire TV, Prime Video, Xumo, Fubo, Xfinity, DirecTV and DISH.
