Jones' Henry named DI Offensive Player of the Year
Charlotte, NC – Jones (MS) running back Robert Henry has been named the 2022 NJCAA Division I Football Offensive Player of the Year.
Over 10 games, Henry led Jones' offense as the top running back in the nation in four major categories. Henry, a 5-foot-10 sophomore, topped the national leaderboards in rushes (237), yards (1,302), yards per game (130.2), and rushing touchdowns (18).
Henry posted a season-best 219-yard performance on September 8 when No. 9 Jones knocked off No. 5 East Mississippi 42-28. Over 31 carries, Henry averaged 7.1 yards per rush, with a longest carry of 69 yards, while adding for three TDs.
Over the course of the season, Henry found the end zone in all but two games and had a season-high of four touchdowns in Jones' season opener during a 44-0 win over Itawamba.
In the first round of the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) playoff, Henry displayed a 187-yard performance, averaging 7.5 yards per carry with one touchdown. Despite Henry's offensive efforts, Jones fell to Northwest Mississippi 38-35. Jones finished the season with an 8-2 record and earned the No. 8 spot in the NJCAA DI Football postseason poll.
In addition to the NJCAA DI Football Offensive Player of the Year award, Henry was honored as an NJCAA Division I All-America First Team selection, MACCC South Offensive Player of the Year, and NJCAA All-Region 23.
