Colorado Springs, Colo (Oct. 14, 2009)- Rock Valley College (Ill.) takes over the top spot this week in the NJCAA Div. III Volleyball poll. Previous No. 1, Brookhaven College (Texas) drops to number two this week. Madison Area Technical College (Wisc.) drops one spot to fourth to make room for new No. 3 Ridgewater College (Minn.).
Rock Valley enjoys the top of the poll for the first time this season. Led by Natalie Olsen's 3.81 kills per set (4th in the nation) and Tailyr Negri's nation leading 10.01 assists per set, the Golden Eagles swept Prairie State, Milwaukee, Sauk Valley, and Elgin. They look to keep their No. 1 spot as they take on St. Clair and DuPage this week.
Brookhaven moves to No. 2 in the poll this week. The Bears went 2-3 on the week, defeating North Lake and Mountain View and dropping games to Div. I Frank Phillips, Seminole State and Navarro. Freshman Sarah Terry currently ranks sixth in the nation with 3.63 kills per game. Brookhaven has a tough week coming up with six games over four dates.
Ridgewater breaks into the top three this week after going 2-0 last week, improving to 26-4 on the season. They will face Minnesota West as well as ranked Hibbing and Central Lakes next week to finish out there season.
