Rock Valley Hands MATC Fourth Loss of the Season, Jumps to #2 Ranking

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Brookhaven College (Texas) was able to rebound from a three set loss to NJCAA Division I Seminole State College and retain the Division III #1 ranking with wins over D1 Vernon College and D3 Mountain View College.  6-2 middle blocker Sarah Terry leads the Bears with 3.39 kills/set.  Returning eight players from their 2008 national championship squad, Brookhaven College continues to be the team to beat.

Rock Valley College (Ill) jumps from #3 to #2 this week with impressive wins over Division II Kankakee, Muskegon, Ancilla and former #2 ranked Madison Area Technical College.  With 6.68 digs/set, Samantha Smith leads the nation with 512 digs on the season.  Setter Tailyr Negri (9.46 assists/set) and outside hitter Natalie Olsen (3.49 kills/set) give Rock Valley a formidable offensive presence on the court.

With a four set loss to Rock Valley College, Madison Area Technical College (Wisc) falls one spot to #3 this week.  Featuring a well balanced offensive attack, MATC relies on returning sophomore setter Kristin Klein to keep the pressure on opponents.  You can bet the Wolfpack will be looking to avenge this loss when they meet Rock Valley again on October 13th.
