Brookhaven Holds on to No. 1 in DIII Volleyball

Colorado Springs, Colo. -- (Sept. 16, 2009) - For the second straight week, Brookhaven College (Texas) tops in the NJCAA Division III Volleyball Poll.  Madison Area Technical College (Wisc.) holds on to the second spot again this week, and Rock Valley College (Ill.) rounds out the top three.

Brookhaven (8-2) saw little action last week as they had to cancel their trip to the Patriot's Invitational in Houston due to team sickness.  They will continue their season this weekend against Seminole State and Vernon College at home.

Madison improved to 12-2 last week, defeating Harper (3-0), Minnesota West (2-0), Fergus Falls (2-0), Riverland (2-0), Rochester (2-1) and Western Technical (2-0).

Rock Valley added seven wins to their record last week, moving to 17-1 on the season.  They defeated Milwaukee (3-0), Waubonsee (3-0), non-members Mount Mercy (2-0) and St. Ambrose (2-1), Clinton (2-0) and Southeastern (2-1).  Kristy Bourquin (3.292 kills per game) and Natalie Olsen (3.139 kills per game) leads Rock Valley offensively. On the defensive end, Alexys Cleaver is averaging 4.408 digs per game and Chelsea Mutton, 3.321 digs per game.
