 January 16, 2013

Former Roxbury Community College athletic director John Curtis Thomas passed away Tuesday at the age of 71.

Thomas was a two-time Olympic high jumper, winning a bronze medal in 1960 and silver in 1964 despite tying for the highest jump. In his freshman year at Boston University, Thomas became the first person in history to clear seven feet indoors.
