Billie Jean King USTA National Tennis Center; Queens, New York

The 2012 edition of the NJCAA Women's Tennis Tournament officially began indoors, after nearly a four-hour weather delay, with 11 full teams along with two partial teams, at the sparkling Billie Jean King USTA National Tennis Center in Queens.  With two rounds of doubles play and the entire first round of all the singles' draw in the book, Broome Community College (Binghamton, NY) leads with 15 points.  Ocean CC (Toms River, NJ) sits in second place with 12 points, while Suffolk CCC (Selden, NY) and Gloucester CC (Sewell, NJ) are tied for third with 10 points each.

Kingsborough's (Brooklyn, NY) Kate Mospanova, the Region XV champion, earned the top seed in the first flight division and following an opening round bye will face Hudson Valley's (Troy, NY) Emily Qua in Thursday's quarterfinal.  Qua was a split set winner over Mercer's (Trenton, NJ) Ewa Szyskzo (2-6, 6-4, 6-4).

All doubles flights have reached the semi-final round, with eight different schools still alive.

Action continues at 9:00am EDT on Thursday with second round singles play. For detailed score sheets please see the link attached.
