JCJC's Lim advances to semifinals of consolation round

PLANO, Texas – Jones County Junior College’s Josiah Lim is still alive in the NJCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Tournament.

Lim defeated Bobby Frantz of Harford Community College (Maryland) 8-6 Wednesday in the No. 3 singles consolation round. He will face Gil Lim of Jacksonville College (Texas) at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

In a No. 1 singles consolation round match on Wednesday, JCJC’s Graham Lightsey lost to Kevin Karcynski of Moraine Valley Community College (Illinois), 8-4.

Lightsey and Harrison Thomas lost to Itawamba’s Austin McElwain and Nathanial Pinkney in a No. 1 doubles consolation round match, 8-3.

In a No. 2 doubles consolation round match, Eric Swisher and Ryan Young fell to Daniel Apacible and Gil Lim of Jacksonville College (Texas), 8-2.

The Bobcats are currently in 20th place with 6.5 points.

ASA leads the tournament with 35 points, followed by Tyler Junior College (Texas) with 33 points. Laredo College (Texas) and Cowley County College (Kansas) are in third with 30 points.

The event concludes Friday.
