 October 7, 2013

Robert Murphy 4th in men’s race; Whitney Wiist 13th for women

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Vincennes University freshman TaPring Goatee added her second victory of the season Saturday when she claimed medalist honors in the Women’s Silver Race at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, KY.

Goatee also won the Trailblazers’ season-opening Sodexo Grizzly Invitational on August 31 at Franklin College.

VU freshman Robert Murphy came in fourth in the Men’s Silver Race and sophomore Whitney Wiist turned in a 13 place performance in the women’s race.

The Trailblazer men were 12th as a team (Lindenwood won the event) and the women finished 14th (Hope was the winner) in team scoring.

Murphy ran the 8K men’s race in 26:05.43. The men’s winner, senior Kris Sandlin of Franklin, had a top time of 25:29.62.

Times were not available as of this morning for the 5K women’s race and finish ranks were verified as 100 percent accurate through the first 38 finishing positions because of a storm that knocked out all power at the race site four minutes before the women’s race concluded.

·        165th        Meredith Spitz
·        198th        Jireh Hart
·        236th        Hanna Wise
·        272nd        Emily Edwards-Burkes
