TC3 Volleyball Drops Three at Home

DRYDEN, N.Y. – The Tompkins Cortland Community College volleyball team hosted a day of Region III competition Saturday, taking on three different teams. The Panthers fell to nationally-ranked Jamestown Community College, 3-0; lost to Niagara County Community College, 3-0; and then lost to Erie Community College, 3-2. TC3 is now 2-15 on the season.

TC3 saved its best of match of the day for the finale. After losing the opening set 25-8, the Panthers won their first set of the day, topping the Kats 25-16. The third set went to Erie 25-16, but the Panthers bounced back and took the fourth 25-18 to set up a decisive fifth set. In the fifth TC3 fell behind early and couldn’t recover, losing 15-9.

For the day, Anna Belcher (Dryden H.S./Cortland) led the team with nine kills. Samantha Berry (Newfield H.S./Newfield) had eight digs, five blocks, four kills, and three aces.  Brooke Torrey (Dryden H.S./Dryden) pulled out 13 digs and handed out six assists. Mackenzie Congdon (Watkins Glen H.S./Watkins Glen) had six digs and five kills.

The Panthers play at Finger Lakes Community College Wednesday.
