Tough Loss for Ancilla Soccer
 October 3, 2013

PLYMOUTH, IN – In a heated conference game, the Red Hawks of Lake Michigan College were victorious over the Chargers by a score of 3-2. This is only the second loss for Ancilla, bringing their MCCAA record to 4-2.

Throughout the first half, the Chargers showed promise, as they controlled the ball and created several scoring opportunities. They could not however, capitalize on the majority of their chances until Jose Herrera scored in the 23rd minute, giving Ancilla a 1-0 lead throughout the half. Early in the second half, Lake Michigan tied the game. Soon after the Red Hawks’ goal, the momentum continued to shift as the Chargers lost a player due to a red card and Lake Michigan scored a second goal off a penalty kick. Ancilla rallied with their ten remaining men as Isaias Morales scored the equalizer in the 82nd minute. Lake Michigan answered back five minutes later, which in turn was the winning goal for the Red Hawks.

Charger coach Adam Hall reflected, “We continued to show a lack of discipline, which will ruin their season, just as the second half proved. I hope this game can be a learning experience so we can improve as we get closer to the playoffs.”

October 12, Ancilla will travel to Kirtland, Ohio, where they will face the Lakers of Lakeland Community College at 1:00 p.m.

Ancilla College, part of The Center at Donaldson, offers 18 Associate’s Degree and eight athletic programs. Since 1937, the College has been a sponsored ministry of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and is located two miles south of US 30 on Union Road near Plymouth, Indiana.
