Lady Warriors volleyball lose close match against Southwestern

INA, Ill. (Oct. 2, 2013) – After leading the first two games, the Rend Lake College volleyball team fell to Southwestern Illinois College 2-3 at home.

The Lady Warriors, now with a 3-18 record, won with first two games with 25-21 and 25-23, before losing the third and fourth games at 26-28 and 11-25, as well as the tie-breaker at 7-15.

Two freshmen, Abby Bennett (Ewing) and Sydney Crews (Mt. Vernon), led their team in kills with nine each. Fellow freshman Cassidy Melliere (Prairie Du Rocher) registered the most digs at 24. Rounding off the top performers was freshman Rebekah Maddox (Du Quoin) with four blocks and Lindsay Winter, a sophomore from Pinckneyville, with 34 assists.
