Bobcat soccer teams blank Holmes

RIDGELAND – The Jones County Junior College soccer teams continued their winning ways here Tuesday afternoon at Freedom Ridge vs. Holmes Community College.

The 13th-ranked Lady Bobcats improved to 10-0 with a 3-0 victory. The Bobcat men’s team then upped its record to 8-1 with a 2-0 decision over Holmes.

The Bobcat teams will be in action on Saturday vs. Jacksonville College (Texas) in games that will be played at Hinds Community College in Raymond. The women’s match begins at 1 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 3 p.m.

Holmes hosts Southwest on Friday.

Lady Bobcats 3, Lady Bulldogs 0

JCJC took a 1-0 lead at 15:04 when Kelsey Cochran scored off an assist by Lindy Tabor.

Tabor’s goal off an assist by Karlee Mullins at 54:38 gave the Lady Bobcats a 2-0 lead. The final goal came at 71:27 when Katie Johnson scored off an assist by Logan Simpson.

Briahna Dickerson was in goal for JCJC. The Lady Bobcats have eight shutouts on the year.

The Lady Bobcats took nine shots on goal, while Holmes had none. JCJC had four corner kicks and committed two fouls. Holmes had no corner kicks and no fouls. Holmes was credited with six saves.

Bobcats 2, Bulldogs 0

JaMarcus Ducksworth scored JCJC’s first goal on an assist by Zack Traylor. Eric Johnson had the Bobcats’ second goal.

Gabe Brown was in goal for JCJC and recorded 11 saves. JCJC took six shots, four on goal. Holmes took 13 shots, including 11 on goal.

JCJC had two corner kicks, while Holmes had one. Holmes was called for nine fouls, compared to two for JCJC.
