September 16, 2013
WINONA LAKE, IN – The Lady Chargers improved their record to 9-9 over the weekend with wins over Grace JV and Cedarville JV; 25-14, 25-14, 25-19 and 25-20, 25-21, 25-13, respectively.
Hannah Sneed led the defense with 27 digs followed by Hayley Mavrick’s 25 and Mackenzie White's 24. Amber Redinger had twenty kills and eight blocks while Mariah Kinney added thirteen kills. Courtney Griffith was tops in the ace department with six and also had 28 assists. Suzanne Grimm contributed 22 assists.
“I was pleased with the overall team effort. Everyone contributed and although we got a bit sloppy at times, I saw some nice things happening. Our setters are doing a great job giving opportunities for their hitters to shine,” beamed head coach Lana Singleton. She went on to further remark, “As a team we had a hitting percentage (kills minus errors divided by attempts) at close to 30%. That means that 30% of our hits were kills as a team; I will take that any night! We also had three girls around the 25 dig mark in two matches which shows great defense. Again, it was a great team effort!”
