Trailblazers 2nd after 1st day of play at golf national championship

VU's Sloan tied for 2nd place; Stewart tied for 5th place
CHAUTAUQUA, NY – The Vincennes University Golf Team sat solidly in second place at the conclusion of first round play Tuesday at the NJCAA Div. III Golf National Championship in Chautauqua, NY. Individually, VU’s Tyler Sloan was in a three-way tie for second place and Shelby Stewart was locked in a five-way tie for fifth.
The individual leader after Round 1 was Georgia Military’s Ethan Chamineak with a two-under score of 70.
Tournament host Jamestown Community College led at the end of the first day of play with a score of 297. The Trailblazers followed at 303, while Monroe Community College was third with 307. Sandhills Community College took fourth place on Day 1 with a score of 308 and Minnesota State-Fergus and Georgia Military were in a tie for fifth at 310.
