Albrecht Steps Down As STLCC Men's Basketball Coach
 May 22, 2013

After 39 years and 768 wins, St. Louis Community  College head men’s basketball coach Randy Albrecht has announced his retirement.

“Sometimes you just know it’s time to move on and now is the time,” said Albrecht. “It’s been a great run and I’ve enjoyed it.”  Albrecht, a member of 5 halls of fame including the NJCAA and MO Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame, ended the 2013 season with a 20-11 record and a string of 28 consecutive winning years. For his career (NCAA and NJCAA) he was 768-491 with a .610 winning percentage.

He was at the helm of NCAA Division I Saint Louis University from 1975-1977, at Meramec College from 1977-2011, and coached a consolidated St. Louis Comm. College squad the last two years. Albrecht ranks 15th among all-time NJCAA wins leaders and 8th among active coaches. Albrecht was an 11 time Region XVI Coach Of The Year.

Albrecht’s Meramec 1989 squad was the national runner-up while his 2005 team earned a third place finish at the NJCAA Div. II tourney.
