TC3 Baseball Drops Home Games
May 4, 2013
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – Saturday was another rough day for the Tompkins Cortland Community College baseball team as the Panthers dropped a doubleheader to Finger Lakes Community College, 11-0 and 8-2. TC3 is now 6-22 in the West Division and 6-24 overall.
The day opened with Finger Lakes plating eight runs in the first frame. The Panthers were unable to mount any rally, and when Finger Lakes scored three runs in the sixth, the game was ended by the ten-run rule.
The second game again saw the visitors score first, this time with a single run in the first. TC3 answered with two in the bottom of the inning, but the lead was short-lived as Finger Lakes scored six times in the second. The Lakers scored the game’s final run in the fifth, making it 8-2.
Brandon Pollack (Groton H.S./Groton) and Steve Tatich (Owego Free Academy/Owego) each had three hits on the day. Tyler Mattoon (Lansing H.S./Lansing) pitched well in defeat in game two, striking out nine, but was betrayed by a defense that allowed seven unearned runs.
TC3 hosts Alfred State College for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
