RLC softball season comes to a close in region loss to Logan

CARTERVILLE, Ill. (May 2, 2013) - Rend Lake College's softball season came to an end Monday with an 11-5 loss to John A. Logan College in the NJCAA Region XXIV Tournament opening round. The two teams had split on Sunday to force Monday's tiebreaker.

The Lady Warriors finished the 2013 season at 12-18 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference and 25-26 overall, including the 1-2 postseason record. 

The Lady Vols put up four runs in the first inning; scored two in the second, fourth and sixth; and tacked on one more in the fifth. JALC had 12 hits, including two home runs by center fielder Ana Duda and another by pitcher Heather Johnson. Rend Lake fought back with a three-run third inning, and added a run in the second and fifth. Fallon Clayton (Anna), Kendyl Ahrens (Poseyville, Ind.), and Taylor Thomas (Arcola) all had a double. Ahrens had a RBI and Thomas had two.

Thomas finished the season at 10-8 on the mound for RLC. She faced every batter on Monday - a strikeout, a walk and seven earned runs. For all things athletic at The Lake, visit RLC online atwww.rlc.edu/warriors.
