EC Tennis Squads Fall at Jones County
 February 25, 2013

East Central Community College’s tennis teams traveled to Jones County Junior College for matches held Feb. 20, 2013, on the Ellisville campus.

In women’ action, results were as follows:

Doubles – EC’s Kelsey Tadlock and Haley Chapman, both products of Newton County High School, fell to Alicia Domoney and Stephanie Smith (8-2), EC’s Alana Turner of Florence and Amber Pierce of Leake Academy fell to Brenda Hegwood and Elizabeth Wright (9-70 and EC’s Nan Hartness and Hayden Fryery, both of Winston Academy, fell to Madison Walker and Carly Stuart (8-5).

Singles – Tadlock fell to Domoney (6-1, 6-4), Chapman fell to Smith (6-2, 6-1), Turner fell to Hegwood (6-1, 6-2), Pierce fell to Aja White (6-1, 6-2), Hartness fell to Brooke Martin (6-0, 6-0) and Fryery fell to Madison Walker (6-1, 6-1).

Results of men’s competition are as follows:

Doubles – EC’s Blake Cochran of Newton County and Chris Mays of Louisville fell to Josh Lomas and Tanner Chamblee (9-7), EC’s Andrew Hanna of Newton County Academy and Hunter Mayo of Leake Academy fell to Ryan Young and Harrison Thomas (8-4) and EC’s Brandon St. Clair of Newton County and Josh Peoples of Leake Academy fell to Caleb Byrd and Jonathan Jones (8-0).

Singles – Hanna defeated Chamblee (6-0, 5-7, 11-9), St. Clair defeated Young (6-4, 6-1)  Mayo defeated Luke Holston (6-2, 6-3), Cochran fell to Lomas (6-2, 6-3), Mays fell to Byrd (6-7, 7-9, 6-3, 10-1) and Peoples fell to Daniel Sullivan (1-6, 6-4, 10-6).
