Lady Bucks End Season on High Note
 February 21, 2013

Lady Bucks hope to close on high note

LYNCHBURG, TN (Feb. 21, 2013) – The Motlow Lady Bucks will have one more opportunity to get a win before the TCCAA/Region VII Tournament begins when they travel to Jackson to face the Jackson State Lady Generals on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Lady Bucks (4-19, 2-15) dropped a 61-49 decision to Columbia State in Columbia Wednesday night. It was the 19th loss for the Lady Bucks in their previous 20 contests, and they are now locked into an opening-round game in the conference tournament, which begins March 5 at Copperweld Arena. The top six seeds receive a first-round tournament bye and will not play until Wednesday, March 6.

After trailing 31-23 at halftime the Lady Bucks, led by sophomore Lekera Taylor, made a spirited comeback attempt and trailed by only three points midway through the second half. However, the Lady Chargers’ superior depth began to wear down the Lady Bucks down the stretch.

Columbia State (5-10, 5-15) will also be one of the four women’s teams to play on the opening day of the tournament. Jackson State (3-18, 1-13) and Roane State (8-19, 6-11) will be the third and fourth women’s teams playing in the opening round of the tournament.

Taylor led Motlow with 18 points, while Kaley Rogers scored 15 for the Lady Bucks.
