Lady Warriors beat Wabash, will finish .500 or better this season

INA, Ill. (Feb. 21, 2013) - The Rend Lake College Lady Warriors took it down to the wire for Homecoming fans Wednesday night in Waugh Gymnasium.
RLC, up 34-29 at the half, outscored the Wabash Valley College Lady Warriors in both halves and won 64-58. It wasn't without a fight. Wabash put a run together in the final minutes and brought itself to within one basket
RLC sophomore Tazonda Gibbs (Detroit) led all scorers with 21 and Kristina Henley (Metropolis) added 15 for the Lady Warriors. Sophomore Jennifer Moeller (Nashville), playing in her final regular season home game for RLC, scored five points before leaving the game because of an elbow to the head.
The Lake, now at 14-13 with one game left, is guaranteed a .500 season. The team will be on the road Saturday at John A. Logan College. RLC won their Jan. 21 matchup with the Lady Vols, 62-49. The Lady Warriors are 6-8 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference. Head Coach Ward McDaniel predicted a five-seed for his team in the upcoming NJCAA DI Region XXIV Tournament at RLC. Rend Lake is currently seventh in the league standings.
