RLC Lady Warriors dominate SIC by 20

INA, Ill. (Feb. 13, 2013) - The Lady Warriors put a 28-20 halftime credit into overdrive Wednesday night, outscoring Southeastern Illinois College 25-5 in the first 10 minutes of the second half. The surge swelled into a 73-53 win in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference for Rend Lake College.

"Our starters came out and really put the hammer to them," said RLC Assistant Coach Sam Story. "We ran them up and down the court. Our defense was solid. We contested their shots. We were holding them to one and done. Our transition was good and we had a very nice inside-outside game tonight."

Sophomore guard Tazonda Gibbs (Detroit) led RLC with 13 points. RLC had 10 players score. Freshman forward Elyse Jackson (Madison, Wisc.) scored 10 with Jennifer Moeller (Nashville) and Kristina Henley (Metropolis) pitching in nine points each. Other scorers for RLC included LaNeice Cannon (Madison, Wisc.) with six; Jasmine Guthrie (Belleville), Kayla Murphy (Collinsville), and Chelsea Smith (Detroit) with five each; and Regina McClarn (Madison, Wisc.) and Zekaryah Thorn (Madison, Wisc.) with four a piece. 

The win will have postseason implications with RLC having only four remaining games to its regular season and all being against conference opponents - Sat
urday Feb. 16 at Kaskaskia (1 p.m.), Monday Feb. 18, at Olney Central (5:30 p.m.), Homecoming on Wednesday Feb. 20, hosting Wabash Valley (5:30 p.m.), and Saturday Feb. 23, at John A. Logan (1 p.m.). RLC is now 5-7 in the GRAC and 13-11 overall.
