COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Jeff Walker (Baton Rouge CC, La.), Alex Mustert (Grand Rapids CC, Mich.) and Billy Johnson (Cedar Valley College, Texas) have been named NJCAA men’s basketball players of the week for games Feb. 4-10.

DIVISION I PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jeff Walker – Baton Rouge Community College, La.
Forward – Dallas, Texas – Pinkston High School

In a 67-57 victory over conference-rival Delgado CC (La.) last week, the Bears turned to Walker and his commanding presence in the paint. The freshman dominated the boards all night, pulling down 23 rebounds including nine on the offensive end of the floor. Walker knocked down 8-of-11 shots from the field for 20 points, while recording three blocks and two steals defensively. Averaging close to a double-double this season, Walker leads the Bears with 14.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game in 2012-13.

DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE WEEK  
Alex Mustert – Grand Rapids Community College, Mich.
Center – Grand Rapids, Mich. – Grand Rapids Christian High School

Mustert led the Raiders to two key wins last week, including an upset of a top five team. The sophomore dominated Kellogg CC (Mich.), totaling 21 points, 20 rebounds, four steals and three blocks in a 93-83 victory. Mustert followed up with another double-double against No. 3 Glen Oaks CC (Mich.), recording 20 points and 15 rebounds in the 105-103 upset. The Raiders have relied on Mustert’s effort on the glass all season as he leads the team with 9.0 rebounds per game.

DIVISION III PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Billy Johnson – Cedar Valley College, Texas
Guard – Cedar Hill, Texas – Cedar Hill High School

Coming up just short of averaging a triple-double for the week, Johnson propelled the Suns to two conference victories in the Lone Star State. Johnson started off the week hot with 37 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and six steals in a 78-71 win over Richland College (Texas). The sophomore came back with 21 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists as the Suns defeated Mountain View College (Texas), 85-80. Cedar Valley will continue to rely on Johnson’s effort on the offensive end as he is averaging a team-high 18.1 points per game this season.
