Phoenix College Hires New Head Football Coach
 January 9, 2013

Jeremy Richardson has been announced as the new Head Coach of the Phoenix College Football Program.  Richardson brings ten years of coaching experience, both as an assistant coach and head coach, to the PC Football coaching staff.

During his ten years of coaching he has experienced success at the high school and college level.  In 2006, as an assistant coach, he helped lead his team to the 3A State Championship at Glade Central Community High School.  Then, as an assistant coach at Joliet Junior College, in 2007, his team was ranked 10th in the NJCAA and won the Graphic Edge Bowl.  Jeremy Richardson was named head coach of Joliet Junior College football in 2008 and in 2009 he would lead his team back to the Graphic Edge Bowl where they would earn their second championship in three years.  Also, during the 2009 season, under Richardson’s direction, his team would spend several weeks ranked in the NJCAA Top 20 and finished the season 10th in the NJCAA in passing yardage.  Richardson looks to bring that same success he had as a head coach for Joliet Junior College onto the field and into the classroom here at Phoenix College.

When Coach Richardson was asked about his goals for the upcoming season he was confident in saying they are, “to guide the football program in the right direction academically and athletically, properly prepare the student athletes for all aspects of being a student athlete and to prepare student athletes to move on to 4 year universities.”  Coach Richardson was confident when revealing a few other goals, “I want to compete in conference play, win at home, earn a bowl berth, and beat Glendale!”

Richardson is passionate and eager to begin his career as a Bear as he states, “I am honored to be the next football coach at Phoenix College.  The opportunity is great and the atmosphere of the institution is amazing.  In just the short time I have been on campus I already feel welcomed, which is a great feeling for a coach.  I feel that everything is already here for the PC Bears to be successful on the football field and PC has outstanding academics, institutional support and athletic facilities.  My staff and I are very excited about the new opportunity and are eagerly waiting to showcase PC to future recruits.”

Phoenix College Athletic Director, Samantha Ezell, was enthusiastic when she spoke about her feelings regarding Jeremy joining the staff, “I am very excited to have Coach Richardson join our PC family.  His focus on academic success and experience winning on the football field is the perfect combination.  I look forward to watching PC football under his direction.”  Jeremy Richardson has the support, the experience, and the will to succeed here at Phoenix College and without a doubt will strive to do so.
