SCF upsets Tallahassee, ends Eagles' win streak at seven
 December 9, 2012

OCALA, Fla. (December 8, 2012) – FCSAA No. 6 Tallahassee Community College saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday, losing to No. 8 State College of Florida, 104-94, at the Florida College’s Men’s Basketball Shootout.

Tallahassee, who is now 8-3, had not lost since falling at Santa Fe College on November 9. State College of Florida improved to 9-3 with the win.

Saturday marked the first time since February 24, 2007, that Tallahassee allowed an opponent to hit the century mark on the scoreboard. State College of Florida, who averages 103.0 points per game, was more than halfway there 20 minutes into the game.

The Manatees knocked down eight three-pointers in the first half and carried a 60-50 lead to the locker room at the intermission.

Tallahassee limited State College of Florida to 44 points in the second half, but the damage was already done.

State College of Florida led 95-79 with just over five minutes left in the game and coasted home to its first-ever win in six all-time tries against the Eagles.

Tallahassee, playing without starting forward C.J. Washington, still had five players in double-figures, led by Trevor McDade’s 23.

Curtis Diamond was next 21 points. Bernard Kline and Jonathan Hood scored 12 points each and Marlon Johnson added 10.

Tallahassee will play its second game at the Shootout at 2 p.m. Sunday against Brevard Community College.
