Toledo, OH---Nandi Taylor scored 14 points, while Karahn Scott had 13 points and 13 rebounds as the Express women's basketball team won a battle with Mott Community College 65-59.

The Bears led 10-3 and 24-12 at different points in the first half, but a late first half run helped turn the momentum towards the Express. Down 27-17 late, the Express finished the half on a 9-4 run.

The rally started with a jumper and a free throw from Scott, followed by a lay-ups from Taylor, Scott and Emma-Jean Ricketts. The final basket pulled the Express within three before Mott's Seda Moore put her team up 31-26 at halftime.

The Express then started the second half off strong, but didn't tie it up until two free throws from Jordyn Bond knotted the game at 39-all with 13:47 remaining. Breonna House then hit a lay-up with 12:06 left to give the Express a 43-41 lead.

After Mott regained the lead at 46-44 with 10:05 left, Mackenzie Heacock hit a 3-pointer that gave the Express the lead for good - although it was a battle.

Taylor finished with 14 points, three rebounds, three assists and four steals, while Scott had 13 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Scott finished 5-for-9 from the field, while Taylor was 5-for-10. The two combined to shoot 8-for-12 from the foul line.

Ricketts finished with 10 points and eight rebounds, while Uniqua Mitchell added 10 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and three steals off the bench. Seven of her rebounds came on the offensive end.

The Express were hurt by turnovers as they had 25 compared to just 14 assists. They helped make up for that with a 65-45 advantage in rebounding.

Five players had at least six rebounds, including Heacock and Bond.

Mott was led by Char'nae Coleman, who had 14 points, six rebounds, six steals and three assists. Brianna Mayes added 12, while Marquetta Green and Deja Penn had 11 each. Porsha Fluker added 10 rebounds.
