INDIANS STILL PERFECT HEADING INTO SANTA FE SHOOTOUTq
December 6, 2012MARIANNA—The Chipola Indians play at Waycross Dec. 4 before heading to Gainesville Dec. 8-9 for the Florida Shootout at Santa Fe College. Chipola plays Polk at 5 p.m. Saturday and Palm Beach at 3 p.m. Sunday. Chipola improved to 10-0 with a pair of home wins in the Panhandle Classic. The Indians crushed Santa Fe 96-50 on Nov. 30. Six Chipola players finished in double figures led by Cinmeon Bowers with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Chris Thomas had 14 points, 11 assists and 6 rebounds. Earl Watson scored 14 points with 8 rebounds. Demone Harrison had 13. Demetrious Floyd scored 11, and Kruize Pinkins added 10. The Indians beat Brunswick 81-65 on Dec. 1. Pinkins led Chipola with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Carlos Morris had 19 points and 6 rebounds. Chris Thomas had 11 points and 5 assists. Earl Watson had 11 points and 6 rebounds. Chipola moved to second place in the FCSAA Top 10 behind top-ranked Northwest (9-0). Gulf Coast (10-1) is third. Tallahassee (8-2) is sixth. Pensacola (10-2) is seventh. Chipola logged two wins on Nov. 23-24 at the Northwest Florida Rick Flores Classic. The Indians beat Columbia State 87-73. Carlos Morris led Chipola with 18 points. Bowers and Pinkins added 16 points each. Chipola outlasted Lee College 75-67 on Nov. 23. In women’s basketball, the Chipola Lady Indians (11-1) are third in the FCSAA state poll. Northwest (10-0) is first. Gulf Coast (9-1) is second. Tallahassee (8-2) is fifth. Pensacola (8-3) is sixth. The Lady Indians suffered their first misfire of the season in a 76-66 loss to Florida State College on Nov. 30. Jasmine Crawford led Chipola with 16 points. Kristine Brance had 15 points. Rahni Bell added 13. Chipola whipped Miami-Dade 78-44 on Dec. 1. Rayven Brooks led Chipola with 22 points. Kristine Brance had 17 points. Rahni Bell had 14.
