COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Julia Davis (Bismarck State, N.D.), Haley Witchella (Alfred State, N.Y.) and Briana McCurdy (Joliet JC, Ill.) have been named NJCAA women’s basketball players of the week for games Nov. 26 – Dec. 2.

DIVISION I PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Julia Davis – Bismarck State College, N.D.
Forward – Belcourt, N.D. – Turtle Mountain Community High School

Dominating the post last week, Davis registered two double-doubles in both of the Mystics games last week. In a 75-60 victory over Ft. Berthold CC, Davis scored a game-high 18 points and pulled down eight offensive rebounds – totaling 20 boards for the game. Against Little Big Horn College (Mont.), the sophomore hit 11-of-16 shots from the field for 26 points and recorded 12 rebounds in a 98-72 blowout of the Rams.

DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE WEEK  
Haley Witchella – Alfred State College, N.Y.
Forward – Oxford, N.Y. – Oxford Academy

Witchella’s superior presence inside the paint anchored the Pioneers’ two wins last week. Edging Penn College of Technology 66-62, Alfred State was led by Witchella’s game-high 29 points, 16 rebounds, five steals and six blocks. The sophomore came back with 22 points and 23 rebounds as the Pioneers dismissed Finger Lakes CC (N.Y.), 65-50.

DIVISION III PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Briana McCurdy – Joliet Junior College, Ill.
Guard – Warren, Ohio – Warren G. Harding High School

It has been a rough start to the 2012-13 season for the 1-6 Wolves but McCurdy has provided Joliet with some optimism heading into December. The freshman racked up 16 points and six steals in a 62-38 loss to Division II Kishwaukee College (Ill.). In a narrow 71-65 loss to another DII opponent in Illinois Valley CC, McCurdy logged a game-high 24 points and added six rebounds, four assists and four steals.
