Lady Chargers Beat Prairie State
November 30, 2012
CHICAGO, IL – The Ancilla College women's basketball team took a win yesterday 58-56 over Prairie State College. The Lady Chargers are now 2-5 in regular season play.
Coach Beason happily mentioned, “Eight minutes into the game we found ourselves down 4-21. We were able to maintain our composure through their full court pressure and slowly pull the game back into striking distance. We never had a lead until the 1:25 mark in the game. I think this says a lot
about this year’s team and how much heart and fight they can have. Syd knocked down a free-throw with 7 seconds left in the game to put us up two and we were able to get a huge stop and rebound by Kelly Duke on the defensive end to clinch the win.”
Top performers were Sydney Beaune (Sault Sainte Marie, MI) who scored 8 points and had 10 rebounds while Kaylia Richardson (Indianapolis, IN) scored 11 points and had 13 rebounds. Hope Wagner (Knox, IN) finished with 15 points while shooting 60% from three point range. Kelly Duke (Vicksburg, MI) added 10 rebounds.
Coach Beason spoke of Beaune and Trudell, “Sydney Beaune and Kristen Trudell both had solid games and are beginning to play like I know they are capable of as point guards.”
Beason concluded, “We have done a really good job lately of following through with scouting reports. If we are able to keep that up, we’ll sneak up on some people in conference play.”
The Lady Chargers will return to Chicago where they play Wilbur Wright College December 1st.
