NJCAA Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Nov. 19-25
November 28, 2012COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Brianna Lancaster (Shelton State CC, Ala.) and Mariah McDonald (Vermilion CC, Minn.) have been named NJCAA women’s basketball players of the week for games Nov. 19-25.
Despite receiving limited minutes last week with the Buccaneers, Lancaster made the most of her time on the floor. The sophomore averaged 18.5 points, seven rebounds and 3.5 blocks in Shelton State’s two wins. Lancaster’s best performance came in a 93-77 rout of Pensacola State (Fla.) where she recorded 27 points on 11-of-15 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds.
DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE WEEK
McDonald took her play to the next level last week for the Ironwomen. The freshman recorded 16 points, seven rebounds and did all she could to keep her team alive in a 66-49 loss to Division II Gogebic CC (Mich.). McDonald responded to the defeat the following day with 22 points, spurring Vermilion on to a 67-61 victory over Hibbing CC (Minn.).
