The Vincennes University Women's Basketball Team got out to a 19-7 lead on visiting Olney Central early Saturday night and clung to a slim halftime lead before letting the lead get away in the second half and dropping a 70-58 decision to the Lady Knights.

Sophomore Zhanna Chukhrii led VU with 22 points and freshman Chelsea Jellison had 16. Both hit four 3-pointers each.

Olney Central scored the first five points of the second half and pulled within 38-36 before Chukhrii ended the skid for VU with a trey and kept the Trailblazers in front, 41-36. But the Lady Knights grabbed their first lead of the game at 49-47 and never looked back for the win.

VU (2-6) will host the Sodexo Classic on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, at the VU P.E. Complex. On the first night of the event, Mineral Area and Owens will take the floor at 5 p.m. The Trailblazers and Malcolm X will tip off at 7 p.m. On the second night, Mineral Area will face Malcolm X at 5 p.m. and the 7 p.m. game will feature VU vs. Owens.
