No. 20 ICC softball sweeps Holmes, Gadsden State

The No. 20 ICC softball team picked up four wins to move to 27-10 on the season and 17-3 in North Division play with a pair of road sweeps at Holmes and Gadsden State last week.

Henry’s solo shot completes sweep of Holmes

Freshman Arriann Henry (Ecru) hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to help the lead the Lady Indians to a 4-3 Game 2 victory over Holmes on Wednesday.

Henry went 2-for-3 and 2 runs scored while Heather Dillard (New Albany) and Kory Watterson (Nesbit) each added a pair of hits to help Cara Hopper (Caledonia) pick up the win.

In ICC’s 6-0 win in Game 1, sophomore Rachel Elder (Guntown) went 2-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBIs and 2 runs while Emilee Henderson (Burnsville) added a pair of hits in the win. Hannah Johnson threw a complete game shutout to improve to 11-4 on the season.

Carver’s grand heroics lifts ICC past Gadsden State

Sophomore Cat Carver (Hernando) hit a pinch-hit grand slam in the top of the seventh to lift the Lady Indians past Gadsden State, 8-4, and complete the sweep in Alabama.

Ashley Langford (Caledonia) went 2-for-3 with a home run with Watterson added a pair of hits to help Kelsey Kesler (Abbeville) pick up the win in relief duty.

Langford homered and Haley Moore (Booneville) had 4 RBIs in the Lady Indians’ 8-6 Game 1 victory. Johnson notched her 12th win of the season after giving up three earned runs on 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4 batters.
