BATTLE CREEK, MI – Outscoring the Bruins of Kellogg Community College, 87-63, the Ancilla College men’s basketball team improved their Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) record to 4-2 and 7-10 overall.
After the first twenty minutes, the Chargers and Bruins were tied at 42. Throughout the second half, Ancilla took charge and maintained the advantage until the end.
Freshman guard Andrenos Powell was the top scoring Charger with 29 points. Demetrius Adams put up twelve points and Juwan Johnson added eleven points of his own for Ancilla. Charger sophomores Jay Feltson and Jakyah Qaiyim combined for twenty points, with ten apiece.
“It was balanced effort from our guys, despite Kellogg playing harder than us the first twenty minutes. We played the way we are supposed to play in the second half and we were able to create some separation. We have a big game on Wednesday as we host conference leader Glen Oaks at the Life Plex,” stated Ancilla coach Aaron Butcher.
The Vikings of Glen Oaks Community College will travel to Plymouth, Indiana where the Chargers will host them on Wednesday, January, 22, at 7:30 p.m.
Ancilla College, part of The Center at Donaldson, offers 18 Associate’s Degree and eight athletic programs. Since 1937, the College has been a sponsored ministry of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and is located two miles south of US 30 on Union Road near Plymouth, Indiana.
