Raiders Invade Ancilla
January 21, 2014
PLYMOUTH, IN – Despite a tough battle, the men’s Charger basketball team was defeated by the Raiders of Grand Rapids Community College by a score of 86-80.
In an exciting back and forth game, Ancilla had an eight point advantage going into the half with a score of 40-32. As the second half began, the Chargers gained a thirteen point lead; however, could not maintain it to the final buzzer.
Ancilla’s offense was led by Juwan Johnson, who put up 21 points and had five assists. Sixteen points came from Andrenos Powell, while Xavier Ringo (13) and Demetrius Adams (12) combined for 25 Charger points. Jay Feltson was tops for Ancilla in the rebound category, collecting twelve total for the day (4 offensive and 8 defensive).
Charger head coach Aaron Butcher reflected, “This was a tough loss. We built a thirteen point lead in the second half, but did not sustain the execution needed to beat a good team. We have another tough week ahead, as we have three games and two are on the road. We need to stay focused and be mentally engaged for 40 minutes each night.”
Traveling to Battle Creek, Michigan, Ancilla will face Kellogg Community College, tonight, January, 20 at 7:30 p.m.
