TC3 Men's Basketball Beats Corning 86-81

Road Win Improves Panthers to 3-0 in MSAC

CORNING, N.Y. – The Tompkins Cortland Community College men's basketball team improved to 3-0 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference with an 86-81 win at Corning Community College Tuesday. TC3 is now 8-5 overall while Corning drops to 2-1 in the MSAC and 6-8 overall.

After falling behind 17-4 to open the game, TC3 closed out the half by out-scoring Corning 37-12 to lead 41-29 at the half. The second half saw TC3 withstand every Corning run, never giving up the lead en route to the win.

A trio of sophomores led the Panthers. Tyseem Lyles (Health Professions H.S./Brooklyn) had a big night with 28 points, 10 assists, six rebounds, and four steals. Devin Redden (St. Mary’s H.S./Buffalo) poured in 22 points while pulling down seven rebounds and handing out two assists. Laszlo Hajnoczi (Hunter-Tannersville H.S./Tannersville) added a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds, along with three blocked shots.

TC3 returns home Saturday to host Onondaga Community College.
