Lady Texans throttle Clarendon Monday in Texan Dome
 January 14, 2014

LEVELLAND – Jasmine Brainard made 10-of-14 shots from the field to finish with a game 22 points, Alexius Dawn scored 18, and Ijeoma Nzekwe added 17 to help the Lady Texans and a 95-52 thrashing of Clarendon College Monday night at the Texan Dome.

TaSheena Moore also scored double digits with 12, while Rafeegah Fataar and Rayvon Christian each chipped in with nine.

The Lady Texans (9-8, 3-1 WJCAC) made nearly 70-percent of their shots, compared to only 26-percent for Clarendon College.

South Plains College took control of the contest early, racing out to a 20-point lead by the midway point of the first half and never looked back as they extended their advantage to 35 points by halftime, 52-17.

With the game well in hand, the second half was a bit more competitive with the Lady Texans only outscoring Clarendon 43-35, but led by as many as 46 points late in the game.

South Plains will receive their day off from conference competition Thursday and will return to the court when they travel to Borger to take on the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen.

Frank Phillips (15-2, 2-1) is enjoying a nice start to their season and have already matched their number of conference victories from a year ago.

WJCAC Scores:  South Plains 95, Clarendon 52; Odessa 55, New Mexico 54; Frank Phillips 58, Howard 45; Midland 74, Western Texas 42.
