Lady Bobcats fall to Pensacola State

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Pensacola State College Lady Pirates overpowered the Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats 105-71 here Friday night.

Caitlyn Spane came off the bench to lead the Lady Bobcats, 2-2, with 14 points. Kaylan Hughes added 12, Kadie Parker had 11 and Starla Daggans had 10. Spane and Crystal Clay each had eight rebounds for JCJC.

Pensacola State, 6-2, got 25 points each from Teadra Jones and Kristen Dickerson. Tyisha Moore added 17, Margaret Perdue had 15 and Shomari Kendrick had 14.

JCJC shot 52 percent from the floor, while Pensacola shot 51 percent. However, the Lady Pirates made 30-of-39 free throws, compared to just 10-of-16 for Jones. Pensacola outrebounded JCJC, 38-32.

The Lady Pirates led at halftime, 49-26.

The Lady Bobcats will meet Gulf Coast Community College at 2 this afternoon in Panama City, Fla.

The Bobcat men’s team, 4-0, will host Alabama Southern at 6 p.m. on Monday in A.B. Howard Gymnasium.

Pensacola State travels to Shelton State (Ala.) at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
