Trailblazers drain 13 treys as part of onslaught
The Vincennes University Men’s Basketball Team got in a workout Tuesday night before Saturday’s first NJCAA Region 24 game of the season, and the Trailblazers blew out Lindsey Wilson in a 119-50 onslaught at the VU P.E. Complex.
Sophomore Devin Foster and freshman Mychal Mulder both scored 19 points to lead VU, while sophomore Paris Burns and freshman Devonte Grundy had 15 each. Mulder, Foster and Burns all three hit a trio of treys as part of their production. The Trailblazers drained 13 from beyond the arc as a team.
Lindsey Wilson’s Dustin Curry paced the Blue Raiders with 16 points and Michael Butler finished with 13.
The game was never in doubt. VU (7-0) got out to a 14-4 lead and had extended the advantage to 32-13 by the 7:30 mark in the first half. When the half wrapped up, a 21-3 run had helped the Trailblazers hold a 53-16 lead.
VU finished off the Blue Raiders by outscoring them 66-34 in the second 20 minutes.
VU will be idle until Saturday when the Trailblazers participate in a men’s-and-women’s doubleheader against Kaskaskia at the VU P.E. Complex. The women tip off at 5 p.m. for their season home opener and the men are scheduled to take the floor at about 7 p.m.
