JCJC soccer teams record victories over Co-LinOctober 13, 2013
ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College soccer teams posted a pair of impressive victories over Copiah-Lincoln Community College here Friday evening at Bobcat Soccer Field.
The 11th-ranked Lady Bobcats whipped Co-Lin, 7-0. The Bobcat men’s team then scored five first half goals and blanked the Wolfpack, 5-0.
The JCJC women are now 12-1 overall, 6-1 in the MACJC South Division. The Bobcat men are now 9-2-1 overall, 5-2 in league play.
The Bobcats will travel to Southwest Mississippi on Wednesday. The women’s game begins at 2 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 4 p.m. Keep up with the games via Livestats at http://livestats.prestosports.com/jonescountyjc.
The JCJC teams will hold “Sophomore Day” in their final home games of the regular season beginning at 2 p.m. on Oct. 19 against Meridian Community College.
Co-Lin hosts Pearl River on Tuesday.
Lady Bobcats 7, Lady Wolves 0
It was another solid victory for the Lady Bobcats.
Lindy Tabor got it started with a goal off a Kelsey Cochran assist at 9:30. Danielle Fortin’s goal off another Cochran assist at 12:40 made it 2-0. Alexis Thornton then made a long kick off a Fortin assist at 19:00 to give JCJC a 3-0 lead. Logan Simpson’s goal off a Tabor assist at 30:50 put the Lady Bobcats ahead 4-0.
In the second half, Cochran scored at 71:51 off an assist by Carolina Berryhill, giving the Lady Bobcats a 5-0 lead. Tabor’s unassisted goal at 75:52 made it 6-0. Thornton closed the scoring at 77:59 off another Cochran assist.
Paige Williams was in goal for the Lady Bobcats.
JCJC took 29 shots in the game, 19 shots on goal. Co-Lin did not attempt a shot. The Lady Bobcats had eight corner kicks.
Co-Lin falls to 0-14-1 overall, 0-7-1 in league play.
Bobcats 5, Wolfpack 0
JCJC had posted a hard-fought, 2-1 overtime win over Co-Lin in Wesson last month, but things were much different this time around.
Souleymane Diakite scored off an assist by Eric Johnson at 12:26 to start the scoring. Diakite then scored off a Brady Smith assist at 18:48. Kevin Ndongo’s unassisted goal at 24:59 made it 3-0. Aaron McMillan then scored off an Evan Buckley assist at 36:28. Zach Traylor then scored the final goal off a Nathan Farrell assist at 43:42.
Gabe Brown was in goal for JCJC and recorded two saves.
The Bobcats took 18 shots in the game, 16 on goal. The Wolfpack took four shots, two on goal. JCJC had five corner kicks, while Co-Lin took one.
The Wolves fall to 2-13 overall, 1-7 in division play.
