IOWA WESTERN'S MARC RARDIN WINS 500th
May 10, 2013
Muscatine, Iowa – Iowa Western Baseball’s 42nd win of the season was anything but ordinary on Friday afternoon. Muscatine gave the Reivers all they could handle in Round 1 of the Region XI postseason tournament, but IW pulled out a 7-4 come from behind victory. Not only did the win keep Coach Marc Rardin’s squad in the winner’s bracket, but the win was also the 500th in his career. After the game, Rardin said about the mark, “500 wins in 11 years shows me that the program works. The recruits, the way we teach, the emphasis on academics and the way kids handle themselves and go on to become successful in life. Some Coaches say, ‘well it’s only a number’, but to me, it’s pretty cool.” Rardin took over in 2003 and now has a career mark of 500-155. He has guided the Reivers to the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado 7 times in 10 seasons, including National Championships in 2010 and 2012. Iowa Western continues Region XI play tomorrow morning, looking for their 9th straight region title.
